November 15th, 11:45a – 4:45a at Cary Yoga Collective
What makes a yoga class gentle? It’s more than slowing the pace or leaving out poses such as Downward Facing Dog and Chaturanga. A thoughtful Gentle Yoga class considers how movement, effort, transitions, breath, and rest feel across the entire practice.
In this six-hour workshop, Loretta Jo will guide yoga teachers through some of the differences between teaching an All Levels Vinyasa and Gentle Yoga. You’ll explore how to create and preserve meaningful movement and flow while offering students more time, support, and choice. We’ll also discuss why Gentle Yoga and Senior Yoga may overlap but are not the same practice. Bring your ideas, thoughts and questions!
Loretta Jo will share the Yoga-Mojo Methodology, her framework for building a complete class through five stages: Arrive, Awaken, Flow, Post Flow and Stretch, and Savasana. You’ll experience portions of a Gentle Yoga practice, pause to examine the teaching choices behind them, and use the framework to plan a practice of your own.
Designed for all yoga teachers who want to expand their teaching, this workshop offers practical tools for creating Gentle Yoga classes that are accessible, engaging, and true to your voice as a teacher.
