  • Learn traditional and explore non-traditional asanas (poses)
    • Physical and energetic alignment
    • Verbal and physical adjustments
    • Modifications and the use of props
      • Teaching to all levels and variations as needed
    • Provide physical assists safely
    • Sanskrit and the use of Sanskrit
  • Pranayama
    • How to use the breath in asana practice and
    • Learn to teach basic pranayama to students
    • Develop your own pranayama practice on / off the mat
    • Understand the different pranayama techniques and how they can be applied
  • Meditation & Concentration:
    • Cultivate mindfulness — Find stillness and listen in. Develop a daily practice that will serve you and stay with you~
    • Use of Mantras
      • Learn sacred chants, what they mean and how to use them
      • Chants – silently or with a group
  • Explore the Yoga Sutras & Patanjali’s 8-Limbs of Yoga
    • Explore the 8-Limbs and how to apply to your personal life and your teaching
  • Teaching Techniques
    • Communication: Teach what you’ve learned in your own authentic voice
    • Learn how to weave accessible philosophical teachings into your classes
  • Subtle Body:
    • Incorporate Chakras, Nadis, Mudras and Vayus in your teaching technique

Teaching Methodology – 25 hours

  • Yoga-Mojo Sequencing Methodology – The Art of Sequencing
    • Creating safe Vinyasa Sequences
    • Teaching Pose Categories and understanding alignment in each
  • Teaching to Kids / Seniors / Prenatal considerations
  • Learn the qualities of a good teacher and delivering a great practice
  • Learn the principles of how to observe and the importance of ques/ and the use of language
  • Correcting — and keeping student’s safe
  • Learn when and how to best demonstrate
  • Learning modalities: Review teaching styles
  • Marketing yourself as a teacher (marketing, including social media, building revenue and legal considerations)

Anatomy & Physiology – 20 hours

  • Physical anatomy: Musculoskeletal, and bodily systems (respiratory, circulatory)
  • Energy anatomy and physiology – Studying the Chakras, Nadis, Mudras and Vayus and healthy movement patterns in the practice of yoga

  

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics – 30 hours

  • The History of Yoga
  • The study of the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita
  • Study of Patanjali’s 8-Limbs of Yoga
  • Yoga Mythology and how to apply to your practice / your teaching
  • Ethics for yoga teachers
  • Yoga as a service (seva)
  • The Business of Yoga

Practicum – 10 hours

  • Group and individual observation / teaching
    • Provide constructive feedback
    • Provide assistance and feedback
  • Attend classes (1 x week minimum) at the Yoga-Mojo Studio
  • Daily Asana, Pranayama and Meditation Practice (home study &/or in-class)
